The following position at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna is advertised:

University professorship

in accordance with § 99 Austrian University Act 2002 (Universitätsgesetz 2002) for Architectural Design at the Institute for Art and Architecture (IKA). This full-time professorship is offered for a period of one year starting 1 October 2023 until 30 September 2024.

The architectural education at the IKA is based on an interacting structure of five platforms, each dedicated to a specific focus. These five platforms are: Analogue Digital Production (ADP), Structural Materials Technology (CMT), Ecology Sustainability Cultural Heritage (ESC), History Theory Criticism (HTC), Geography Landscapes Cities (GLC).

The open position is located within the platform Geography Landscapes Cities (GLC). The professorship includes teaching obligations such as design studio and lectures as well as research and administration.

Conditions of employment

• qualification as an architect with an Austrian or equivalent international university degree or proof of an equivalent academic qualification corresponding to the application
• proof of an internationally recognized highly qualified design and construction practice and/or scientific expertise in the field of Geography Landscapes Cities, documented by research or other corresponding publications
• university teaching experience in in the field of Geography Landscapes Cities (GLC) mentioned above, including design supervision

• excellent knowledge of English and/or German

• gender and discrimination critical competence

Desired qualifications

• Applicants should prove expertise in the field of Geography Landscapes Cities and show substantial university teaching experience and practice in order to connect these topics to theory and architectural design. They should understand the platform as a design-driven, comprehensive and culture-oriented place of architectural education, demonstrating to students new perspectives for the profession.

The teaching commitment includes a minimum of 14 hours per week.

The monthly gross salary according to the collective bargaining agreement for university employees in salary group A1 for full-time employment is currently Euro 5.826,5.
