Sofie Thorsen, * 1971 in Århus, Denmark, has been living and working in Vienna since 1999. She studied Fine Arts in Budapest, Copenhagen, and Vienna. From 2005 to 2009, she worked as an artistic-scientific assistant at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, holding a full professorship for performative sculpture since 2018 at the Funen Art Academy in Denmark. She is regularly involved in advisory boards and juries in Austria and internationally.
In addition to her national and international exhibition activities, Sofie Thorsen has realized several works in public spaces and for art in architecture, most recently the work ()§ in Seekirchen am Wallersee. She has also published a series of artist books and monographs, including the publication Sofie Thorsen - Chalk Lines (Vienna: VfmK Verlag für moderne Kunst, 2022).
