Duration: 1.1.2023 – 31.12.2023
The concepts of climate racism and climate solidarity will be used to sketch a theoretical perspective on the politics of the climate crisis. Climate racism connects to familiar forms of racism such as anti-Black and anti-Muslim racism, but changes them under the auspices of the climate crisis. I would like to elaborate this conjuncture of racism by looking at debates on climate refugees. The concept of climate solidarity, might allow me to develop a perspective on the climate justice movement. By replacing the abstract notion of justice with solidarity, the affective and relational dimensions of the issue will become visible, as will the political movements.
