The following position at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna is advertised: 

University professorship 

in accordance with § 99 Austrian University Act 2002 (Universitätsgesetz 2002) for Architectural Design at the Institute for Art and Architecture (IKA). This full-time professorship is offered for a period of three years, starting 1 October 2024 until 30 September 2027. 

The architectural education at the IKA is based on an interacting structure of five platforms, each dedicated to a specific focus. These five platforms are: Analogue Digital Production (ADP), Structural Materials Technology (CMT), Ecology Sustainability Cultural Heritage (ESC), History Theory Criticism (HTC), Geography Landscapes Cities (GLC). 

The open position is located within the platform Geography Landscapes Cities (GLC). The professorship includes teaching obligations such as design studio and lectures as well as research and administration. 

Conditions of employment 

• qualification as an architect with an Austrian or equivalent international university degree or proof of an equivalent academic qualification corresponding to the application
• proof of an internationally recognized highly qualified design practice and/or scientific expertise in the field of Geography Landscapes Cities, documented by research or other corresponding publications
• university teaching experience in in the field of Geography Landscapes Cities, including design supervision
• excellent knowledge of English and/or German
• gender and discrimination critical competence

Desired qualifications 

• Applicants should show sufficient university teaching experience and practice in order to relate design and theory to the field of Geography Landscapes Cities.
• Applicants should be able to shape the platform as a design-oriented and culturally focused place of architectural education and to show students also future areas and perspectives for the profession.
• networking with similarly oriented research groups within and outside the academic field in order to relate all relevant areas of knowledge to each other, from technical to artistic practice
• teamwork and cooperation skills

The teaching commitment includes a minimum of 14 hours per week. 

The monthly gross salary according to the collective bargaining agreement for university employees in salary group A1 for full-time employment is currently 5.826,5.

At least one research focus within the platform GLC is to be proposed as part of the application.
