The following position at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna is advertised:

University professorship
for Gender and Space at the Institute for Fine Arts (Bildende Kunst – IBK) in accordance with § 99 Austrian University Act 2002 for full time. This professorship is offered for a period of one year, starting 1 October 2021.

With 17 departments, the Institute of Fine Arts is the largest institute at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. The education in the field of contemporary art forms numerous interfaces with the other institutes of the Academy. The newly created professorship for Gender and Space sets accents in the area of artistic practice, the theoretical examination of spaces and their appropriation, as well as the examination of politics of visibility in exhibition contexts through annually changing appointments. Critical perspectives and aspects of gender - as well as their linkages to class relations, racism, heteronormativity, and disability - are central. Gender and Space is a course offering for all students in the Academy.

Employment requirements:
•    a completed university or college education appropriate to the position or equivalent artistic aptitude.
•    evidence of internationally outstanding artistic practice and corresponding artistic achievements
•    proof of teaching experience in the field of art and/or theoretical examination of spaces and/or visibility policies in exhibitions
•    submission of a basic concept on the content and intentions of the applicant's own artistic teaching in the field of gender and space and statement of motivation
•    expertise in the field of artistic practice and exhibition politics and the ability to communicate this also in theoretical reflection
•    very good knowledge of German and/or English
•    gender competence, discrimination-critical competence

The gross monthly salary according to the collective agreement for university employees in salary group A1 is currently Euro 5,321.7 for full employment.
