The workshop with Sara Hassan is for BIPoC.

Power abuse is not a single-issue problem. Marginalized people disproportionately become targets of harassment, sexual and otherwise, and not by accident. How do various forms of oppression interact here? How does racism, sexism, queerphobia and other forms of discrimination work together to effectively push people out of systems? How are these dynamics reflected in perpetrators' strategies, bystander actions, and systemic patterns? In this workshop, we will work through a tailored case study from a BIPOC perspective to identify the escalation levels of harassment and look at how various discriminatory dynamics come into play when people become targets. How and where does power abuse start, how can we identify early warning signs and develop an intersectional understanding of power abuse and harassment?

This is an interactive workshop with practical examples. We would like to invite you to send specific case studies, red flags/warning signs, or patterns that you have noticed to the workshop leader: kontakt@sarahassan.at. All cases will be treated completely confidentially, only patterns will be used to illustrate the specific case study.

Sara Hassan, writer, moderator, and keynote speaker, has been working on the topic of abuse of power and harassment since 2015. After many years of international work in the field of political communication (including in the EU Parliament), the co-author of the book Grauzonen gibt es nicht (It’s not that grey) gives lectures and holds workshops on how to spot early warning signs of power abuse. After completing an interdisciplinary Master's degree at New York University as a Fulbright-Austria scholar, Sara now works throughout Europe as an expert on the topic of abuse of power.

As the number of participants is limited (max. 18), registration is essential.
