Helena Adam
Helena Sophia Adam, * in Munich and currently living in Vienna, works as a theater maker and spatial designer. She studied stage design at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under Anna Viebrock and Nina von Mechow. In January 2024, she completed her studies with the diploma project man sagt es stürzt und dann fließts´, which explored the phenomenon of landslides. Using performative tools, scenography and performers created a simulation of mass displacement and attempted to make the natural disaster and its effects metaphorically tangible for the audience. Adam's interest in bringing nature into interior spaces and transforming it is evident in several of her other works as well.
Further works by Helena Sophia Adam were featured at the steirischer Herbst festival in Graz, as well as in a children's musical touring across Austria and in various music videos. Additionally, she contributed to stage and costume design at renowned institutions such as the Volkstheater, Burgtheater, and Volksoper in Vienna, as well as the Hessisches Staatstheater in Wiesbaden and the Salzburg Festival.
In 2024, she was awarded the Würdigungspreis by the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna for her diploma project man sagt es stürzt und dann fließts´.
