For admission to most of the study programs at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (with the exception of some Doctoral Studies) an admission exam must be passed, in addition to meeting other formal criteria. An overview of all admission tests for the study programs can be found here. More detailed information on the admission tests can be found on the page for each study program.

The University Library of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna is on vacation. The Main Library and the Branch Library at the Institute for Education in the Arts will be closed from February 5 to 18, 2024.

The 1st Elfriede Mejchar Prize for Photography 2024 is awarded to the photographer and artist Lisa Rastl, who was born in Lower Austria and lives and works in Vienna and Burgenland.

The AICA Prize for Young Art Critics, endowed with 12,000 euros and awarded for the first time, goes to Sophia Roxane Rohwetter, Master in Critical Studies student.

We warmly welcome Andrea Faraguna and Emily Wardill to the Academy and are delighted that Alastair Mackinven has extended his contract.

This year's Hypo Vorarlberg Art Prize was won by the Vienna-based artist duo Romana Hagyo (Gender and Space) and Silke Maier-Gamauf with their two-part work Anthropophytes.
