Muslim*Contemporay 2023 I The Third Edition
The third edition of Muslim*Contemporary is titled Von Gästen zu Gastgebenden - War das jetzt unfreundlich?! and reflects on the fact that Vienna was once again named the most unfriendly city.
The festival is dedicated to the question of hospitality, community building and the presentation and participation of new perspectives on art and culture in a safe, multidisciplinary space.
Muslim*Contemporary is the multidisciplinary, anti-racist, intersectional-feminist festival that Austria needed - and still needs! The focus of the multi-day festival is on reflecting the place and participation of Muslim communities in Austrian society through art, mediation and dialogue. The festival focuses on exhibitions at various venues, including the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. A variety of artistic formats will be presented there. The exhibition is complemented by various dialogical and participatory formats such as workshops, readings, as well as Safer Spaces and concerts.
Muslim*Contemporary is a project by Salam Oida and takes place in cooperation with the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, Shift and BMKÖS .
