Open Call of the Academy | Artist-in-Residence Cairo
In cooperation with the Austrian Cultural Forum Cairo (ACF), the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, and the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Civil Service and Sport (BMKOES), an Artist-in-Residency in Cairo for graduates of the Academy is being offered.
Graduates of the Institute of Fine Arts (graduating between summer semester 2023 and winter semester 2024/25) are invited to apply for the residency in spring 2025 to work on artistic projects and network with artists in Cairo.
The Artist-in-Residence includes:
- Duration: 8 weeks (March and April 2025)
- Accommodation provided by the Austrian Cultural Forum Cairo (ACF)
- Opportunity for working and connecting with local artists
- Artist Talk/Presentation at the ACF in April
- Travel Costs: Reimbursement up to € 600
- Support: € 1,200 per month
- Additional support for Visa and material costs
The Artist-in-Residence is responsible for organizing their own travel, including bookings, visas, and insurance.

Eligible for submissions
Graduates of the Institute of Fine Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna who completed their studies within the last two years (between March 2023 and January 2025: summer semester 2023, academic year 2023/24, winter semester 2024/25, and diploma candidates registered for January 2025)
