BMBWF and BMEIA | Stanford University - Distinguished Visiting Austrian Chair 2025-2027
The Stanford University Distinguished Visiting Austrian Chair Professor is a gift from the Republic of Austria to Stanford University and was established in 1976 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the founding of the United States. The proceeds of this gift are dedicated to funding the Austrian Chair for a teaching and research stay at Stanford University for 6 months (January to June of an academic year).
The call for applications is for the years 2025, 2026 and 2027 (January-June). A total of three candidates will be chosen in this selection process. Scientists with a habilitation or comparable qualification ("associate professor rank or above") who are employed by a public Austrian university as defined in the UG 2002 and who are working in a subject taught at Stanford University are eligible to apply.
The selection process itself is administered by the University of Vienna. The selection committee will be largely appointed on the basis of proposals from uniko and will include an international peer review. The selection meeting will take place at the end of March 2023 (shortlist), the final decision will be made by Stanford University.
