Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation | Berkeley-Austria Exchange program 2016/2017
The Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation supports cooperation between Austria and the United States through research and teaching projects relating to the U.S. in economics and the social sciences. This may also include projects in other academic areas as long as they address problems of the social- and economic sciences. Ideally, projects focus on the following key areas:
- Transatlantic relations with a focus on central and eastern Europe
- The future of industry as seen from a social science and economic perspective
- Work profiles of the future – dual education & apprenticeship
In this context, the Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation invites applications for the following projects of scientific cooperation with the University of California, Berkeley for the academic year 2016/17, coordinated by the Institute of European Studies at UC Berkeley:
- A visiting fellow at the University of California, Berkeley for the duration of one month and a stipend of EUR 5,000. Employment at an Austrian university or scientific institution is required. The fellowship is designed to foster contacts and cooperation at UC Berkeley in order to enable common research projects in the future. We particularly encourage young scholars (up to five years after completion of dissertation) to apply. Employment at an Austrian university or scientific institution is required.
- A graduate student (PhD Students preferred) at the University of California, Berkeley for a duration of three months and a stipend of EUR 5,000. Part of the visit may be dedicated to research.
- A collaborative research project , supported with EUR 10,000 with colleagues at the University of California, Berkeley. Both project partners each receive half of the funds. Employment at an Austrian university or scientific institution is required.
The timeframe for the stay at Berkeley can be chosen freely between September 2016 and June 2017. The Institute of European Studies will lend the necessary support on campus and will furnish office space to the best of its ability.
