The (im)possibility of a Black anti-capitalist fashion label
Lecture by Anna Menecia Antenete Hambira organized by Elke Gaugele and Sarah Held, studio for Fashions and Styles.
The lecture discusses the necessity of turning away from the idea of the classic fashion label in times of capitalism. Based on her current work from scratch - a reflection in retrospect of the life of a strange herb, Anna Menecia Antenete Hambira gives an overview of the objectives and structures of an anti-capitalist black fashion project. She reports on decolonization practices in the everyday life of the project, "anti-capitalist" fashion production, "emancipated" fashion consumption and the interweaving of different design tools within a fashion-based project.
