The following position at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna is advertised:
Tenure Track position
in accordance with § 99 paragraph 5 Austrian University Act 2002 (Universitätsgesetz 2002) for “Digital Didactics and Art Education” in the study program Art and Education – teaching subject Art and Design at the Institute for Education in the Arts (IKL) at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, the goal of qualification being a habilitation or achievements appropriate to habilitation (according to §27 KV). This full-time position is offered for a period of six years, starting on 1 October 2024.
Areas of responsibility
- subject-related research on digital didactics and art education: subject-related didactic theory, digital tools and teaching formats in the school context (secondary level)
- in-depth study and forward-looking development of the study program Art and Education with a focus on digital justice and intersectionality
- independent teaching of courses amounting to 4 contact hours per week including exams as well as supervision of students in the field of subject didactics/school practice
- development, participation and implementation of (third-party funded) research projects
- active scientific publication and lecture practice
- participation in research agendas and tasks in the development of the institute's research fields
- participation in the institute's organizational, administrative and committee tasks, in juries and working groups as well as in quality development and evaluation measures in teaching and research
- participation in teaching agendas of the study program Art and Education
Conditions of employment
- scientific doctorate (completed with a very good degree) in the field of art didactics/art education and digitality in a subject relevant to the position
- specific international experience at relevant art and/or research institutions as well as an independent, internationally recognized artistic or research practice (through collaborations, research or exhibition practice, publications and lectures)
- proven mediation activity in the school context (secondary level)
- proof of teaching experience in tertiary education for at least two semesters
- submission of an abstract (max. 10,000 characters) outlining a habilitation project in the field of digital didactics and art education (focal points, research question, theoretical perspectives and methodological approach)
- very good English and German language skills
- ability to work in a team
- general anti-discriminatory understanding and the willingness to further improve these skills
The monthly gross salary according to the collective agreement for university employees in salary group B1|Post-Doc position currently amounts to Euro 4.752,30 for full-time employment. Once a qualification agreement has been concluded, the candidate will be transferred to salary group A2 Assistant Professors and, once the qualification targets have been met, to the group of Associate Professors.
