Wilhelm Binder

Wilhelm Binder studied cultural and social anthropology at the University of Vienna and in Lille, France as well as Fine arts in Vienna and Barcelona. Binder was involved in editorial and curatorial teams, exhibition and theater spaces, a queerfeminist film series and various performance collectives. Working in bars and restaurants as a waiter and in customer service are equally important experiences for Wilhelm Binder's career. As a freelance artist Wilhelm Binder currently collaborates in several projects such as Queer Museum Vienna, salon_tongue_ and Hotel Butterfly. In his artistic work Wilhelm Binder looks at power structures and normative processes of society from a queer perspective. Concepts are brought to life in various media: performative interventions, multi-material sculptures, drawing, video, text.
