The studio for Art and Film invites you to cinema screenings on two evenings at Breitenseer Lichtspiele. The program consists of practice, footage, results… cinematic attempts („Versuche“) by the students.

Hermi maintains her generous garden well, for the neighbours talk. A stranger’s eye rarely makes it inside the house, and more rarely an open ear. Over cigarettes and wine, she chats about the past, not much about the future, the most about recent events – for their wounds are the deepest. About age, retirement, new men, and dogs, short: about changes, Hermi doesn’t want to know anything. And still it seems as if a turning point in her life has been reached.
Erde

Hernals Cemetery stretches across a hillside and is home to 19,762 gravesites. From a distance, small everyday scenes are observed. In winter, however, it remains mostly quiet at the cemetery. Only sometimes something moves. Most of the time it is crows.

Excerpts from Kirchstetten

From 1958 until his death in 1973, renowned English poet W.H. Auden spent his summers in Kirchstetten, a small town in lower Austria, forty minutes by train from Vienna.

Bessie and Zooey

Based on a short story by J. D. Salinger: Bessie confronts her son Zooey with the nervous breakdown of his sister. While Zooey just tries to take a bath. A bathroom-confrontation.

North of Libya

While his ship is passing Hamburg’s industrial landscape on the shores of the river Elbe, Dariush is telling stories about this experiences on the Mediterranean. Dariush worked as a captain on sea rescue missions, his partner Antje as a paramedic. Antje describes the injuries and scars of the people they rescued. Her little dog sleeps next to her on the sofa. The film is a portrayal of the two that goes far beyond Europe’s borders. The pictures, however, stay in the port city of Northern Germany.
