Residence program for artists, curators and researchers | Youkobo Art Space | Japan
Youkobo Art Space in Japan is currently accepting applications to its 2017 residence program.
The residence program is recommended for self-funded artists wishing to undertake new work or research in the particular cultural environment presented by Tokyo/Japan. Various residency plans are on offer, catering to artists who want to focus on studio production, hold an exhibition, or to artists, curators and researchers who only require accommodation.
In addition to the residence program, Youkobo is running various initiatives giving support to Japanese art graduates and young artists, and carries out a number of exchanges with international residency spaces and institutions. Artists at Youkobo benefit from the connections they can make with other artists and art professionals.
Eligibility: There are no preconditions for acceptance in terms of field of artistic activity, age, nationality, etc., though there are limitations to our physical facilities.
Costs:
AIR-1 (190,000 yen/month for studio and accommodation, inclusive of utility costs), recommended for long-term residencies.
AIR-2 (170,000 yen/month for studio and accommodation, inclusive of utility costs), suitable for artists traveling alone.
AIR-3 (200,000 yen/month for studio and accommodation, inclusive of utility costs) is recommended to artists wishing to hold an exhibition during their residency.
Residence 3 (160,000 yen/month for accommodation only, inclusive of utility costs) is suitable for artists, curators and researchers who don’t require studio.
