Masterpieces of intaglio printing from the Graphic Collection
Guided tour through the Graphic Collection in cooperation with the intaglio printing workshop.
The Graphic Collection of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna preserves more than 100,000 inventory numbers of drawings, prints and photographs from various periods of art history from the 14th century to the present. These works of art are very sensitive to light, which is why they are rarely seen in public and are usually kept in storage.
For this reason, the Graphic Collection is offering the opportunity to take a look at its holdings on a giuided study hall tour during the 2024 Open Days. This year, the focus is on masterpieces of intaglio printing. The collection ranges from the engravings of Martin Schongauer, Albrecht Dürer and Hendrick Goltzius to early iron etchings by Daniel Hopfer and the masterful drypoint works and etchings of Rembrandt and Jacques Callot.
The tour is offered in cooperation and exchange with the practical printing demonstrations in the intaglio printing workshop.
