On Painting: Image Cut
Georg Frauenschuh
On Painting is a talk series initiated by the abstract painting studio in 2013. Students, alumni, faculty and guests meet to discuss contemporary painting exclusively through the means of original works.
The expanded concept for the new series of On Painting will be held over four events commencing in the 2022 summer semester. Artists will be invited to bring in their own painting, which will be exhibited in the Exhibit Eschenbachgasse space alongside a reference object and a copy of a historical painting.

Performance by Roland Rauschmeier
In his painting, Georg Frauenschuh combines a personal point of view with a discursive approach. The individual "narrative objects" are often based on found material of digital origin, but also reproduce personal memory impulses. In this way, processes of human production and the resulting fallibility become visible in the sometimes large-format images. Perceptual experiences and possibilities of representation are continuously negotiated, as are the respective manifestations of abstract and representational phenomena.
On the following day, October 14, the work is on display at Exhibit Eschenbachgasse between 11 am–3 pm.
