Rebecca Rothenborg

Rebecca Rothenborg, *1996 in Copenhagen, studied at Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main and at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.

She produces garments in materials that transform them into tools for (un)practical use, as well as furniture that refuses to be used as it ought to. Her sculptures, made from materials ranging from wood and textiles to dishwashing tabs and coffee filters, evoke imaginings of the impossible actions one would have to undertake in order to use or interact with these objects.

Exhibitions include an artist statement at Parallel Vienna (2023) and a solo show at Palermo Galerie in Stuttgart (2023). Her works have been shown at Hotel Beethoven Wien (2022), Kunstraum Schwaz (2023), UA26 in Vienna (2022), and the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (2022), among others. In 2024, her works will be shown at Bauhaus University´s gallery Nova Space, at UA26 in Vienna, and at Large in Prague.
